Lost Another One: RIP Percy Sledge, November 25, 1940-April 14, 2015

Sad news to pass on today in Ahmet's House...that our great soul crooner, the legendary Percy Sledge, has finished his story. It is now up to all of us left to make sure history does not forget. We never will...

So just two days before the 49th anniversary of the release of "When a Man Loves a Woman", one of the greatest statements ever sung on the ever mysterious workings of our most intimate feelings, we say goodbye to the talented young man from Alabama...leaving us today at the age of 74.

The One and Only

This Sunday (April 19th) we will celebrate some of Percy's other great songs in "Ahmet's House".

Running fast into Spring! Music as fresh as ever in Ahmet's House

Rejoice! Rejoice!

...we have no choice, but to Carry On! Yes Stephen, let us carry on indeed. Tony is traveling in New York today on Ahmet's House business, so we will not get together until next week. Today, as Jews celebrate Passover and Christians celebrate Easter at the same time, let us remember why this great music connected us all, for all the years of Ahmet's time....

"Ahmet...a Muslim who worked with a Jew to bring the gospel music of the blacks to white America."

Peace and love from Ahmet's House to you and yours, around the globe....

In Memoriam: Miriam Bienstock

Tonight's show is dedicated to "the money man" of Atlantic records...who in 1947 was an unusual  woman of business...fierce, tenacious...Miriam Abramson Bienstock. Miriam passed just a few days ago, and for keeping the young company solvent we owe her deeply. Nothing after the first few years would have happened...thank you dear Miriam. We mourn your passing among family and many friends.
