In the days since the passing of our Queen...Aretha...a lot of focus has been placed on the relevance of the Black artist, and rightly so. Names like Carla Thomas, Joe Tex, Percy Sledge; Miles, Coltrane, and Joe Turner...they are the stuff of legend. Since its inception, "the majority of American music has been inspired by Black American music...an out-growth of the Blues, blues and jazz phrasing invented by Louis Armstrong"...said Ahmet at Atlantic's 50th anniversary. Lets look at tonight in that light, as we lay the Queen to her deserved rest.
