International Jazz Day in Istanbul...April 30, 2013!

It's a great day for Jazz around the globe as the 2nd International Jazz Day is held. This year, it is most fitting that the great people of Turkey host the day in Istanbul...as this connection of Turkey, America and of course the Ertegun Brothers make so much of it so very possible.

UNESCO Ambassador for Intercultural Dialogue and Chairman of the Thelonius Monk Institute of Jazz, Herbie Hancock, co-Chair of the day, shown here with Ahmet's House Founder Tony Gallucci

To Ambassador Tan, and all our good friends at the Turkish Embassy in Washington, DC, we send our best hopes and blessings for a beautiful day.

Tony, Can Oguz and Eric Koval at the Embassy last month

Hats off to Detroit's own Rep. John Conyers, pictured below with Tony and Eric Koval.

A World of Pain...a World of Hope...all in Ahmet's House

We do indeed live in two worlds...some of us more in one than the other. It often seems unfair, how some suffer so much. The music of Ahmet's House is familiar with loss, familiar with pain...but also familiar with hope! This we must not loose as we move past the events of the last week. Let us share, let us heal...all around the world...let's dance together in Ahmet's House!
